There were some tough guys who played villain’s henchman and minor roles in old movies. They were known for their intimidating muscular bodies and look who would indulge in fight scenes with heroes. They were twice the size of their opponent heroes but were get beaten by them as per the movie  script. Some of the names if you remember are Ram Shetty, Bob Christo, Manik Irani aka Billa, Mahesh Anand, Gavin Packard and Mukesh Rishi etc. The last actor is still acting in movies.Here are their pictures . Top 5 Bollywood movie franchises with sequels of  different genres


A genre (a French word which is little difficult to pronounce) is a style or category of movies.  Below are a few Bollywood movie sequels with different genre.




1.       Don 2


 Don 2(2011)  is the sequel to SRK’s Don (2006) which itself is a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s Don (1978) .The story of Don continues in the second installment of the movie  but unlike the first movie which was a crime ,action drama the sequel was a heist movie .    Half of the movie’s plot was involved around Don’s meticulously planned robbery of a German bank.



2.       Dhoom 3




Dhoom  franchise which are  also a heist action movies is one of the biggest movie series in Bollywood . Unlike the first two instalment, Dhoom 3 focused on family history of the protagonist. It borrowed its plot from Hollywood movies like The Prestige & Now you see me. With over the top stunts  , Aamir Khan’s stupendous dual performance, Katrina Kaif as an eye candy  and the tedious appearance of Jr Abhishek Bachchan and  Uday Chopra . The movie became one of the highest grossing movie of that time.




3.       Krrish & Krrish 3





Krrish series began with movie Koi… Mil Gaya ( desi E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial )  when Rohit a mentally challenged boy befriends  an alien which the former gives name as Jaadu . Koi… Mil Gaya was a targeted for  kids audiences  but unlike it’s predecessor   Krrish ( so called first desi superhero) was a superhero action movie which attracted both the kids & mature audiences and it would  later continued with  Krrish 3 (desi X-Men) .The more it has sequels the more its movies became darker .
 




4.       Bhootnath- Returns






In  the original Bhootnath  movie ,  a child Banku meets a ghost named  Mr.Nath (Sr Amitabh  Bachchan)  & befriends him .The movie plot was focused on their friendship but unlike the original movie its sequel Bhootnath 2 was  a supernatural  political satire movie  in which main focus was election .


5.       Ragini MMS 2



Unlike its prequel, Ragini MMS 2  was not a found footage movie  rather it was a masala movie with plethora of hot scenes  by Sunny Leone . It also had item songs and a music video of Yo Yo Honey Singh. Perhaps, it was the reason for the success of the horror b movie.

A Few Unknown facts about "Sholay"

The rise of western genre in Bollywood  "Sholay"(1975)  is one of the earliest films which had the Western genre . Apparently it was inspired from Hollywood movies like "The Magnificent Seven" (1960)  & Japanese movie "Seven Samurai"(1954).  Initially, it received negative critical reviews and a tepid commercial response, but favorable word-of-mouth publicity helped it to become a box office success. It broke records for continuous showings in many theatres across India, and ran for more than   five years   at Mumbai's Minerva theatre .  ‘Sholay’ was also about two gunslingers fending off the village against bandits and Sergio Leone’s film had pretty much the same rub as well.  As I've already said  ‘Sholay’ was inspired by  many  classic Western film.
