There were some tough guys who played villain’s henchman and minor roles in old movies. They were known for their intimidating muscular bodies and look who would indulge in fight scenes with heroes. They were twice the size of their opponent heroes but were get beaten by them as per the movie  script. Some of the names if you remember are Ram Shetty, Bob Christo, Manik Irani aka Billa, Mahesh Anand, Gavin Packard and Mukesh Rishi etc. The last actor is still acting in movies.Here are their pictures . As the  worldwide wide release  of movie Thor: Ragnarok is near we would like to share some interesting facts about Norse god Thor(god of thunder) & his movies.

Thor: Ragnarok is sequel to Thor (2011) & Thor: The Dark World (2013) & seventeenth movie of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) .
Thor made his first appearance in an August 1962 issue of “Journey into Mystery.” Spider-Man was also introduced into comic books that same month .
Mjolnir

Thor’s iconic weapon, the magic hammer Mjolnir, was said to be forged in the heart of a dying star. (Sadly it got destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok movie by the evil Hela)

In the Norse mythology, Ragnarok is a series of future events, including a great battle, resulting in death of many Norse gods including Thor.
 In the comic book, there is an alien called Beta Ray Bill who also holds a hammer like Mjolnir.

     In a crossover comic between DC & Marvel, Superman got chance to use Captain America’s shield as well as Thor’s hammer.

     In comics book of Civil War, Tony Stark used some of Thor’s hair in order to create a clone of Thor called Ragnarok.

     Thor doesn’t have the power to fly. Actually when he flies it is his hammer which is actually flying he  just hold it & move in same direction where the hammer is heading.


    During the casting, the final choice for Thor was offered to both Hemsworth brothers Chris and Liam. Chris Hemsworth was eventually chosen and Liam appeared in The Hunger Games Franchise.

    Not only the Hemsworth brothers ,Tom Hiddleston  was also considered for Thor, as he auditioned for the role. However, the producers thought he is more suitable as the trickster Loki, and he became  fan favourite.




    Director Kenneth Branagh asked Anthony  Hopkins to improvise his yelling at Thor yelling in the banishment scene in original Thor movie. When the scene was filmed, Hopkins acting skills left many in the cast and crew amazed .

    The teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok which was released by Marvel Entertainment (which is owned by Disney) on you tube got a record breaking over 136 million views only within 24 hours. It broke the record of Emma Watson starer Beauty & the Beast whose trailer had over 127 million views.

    A Few Unknown facts about "Sholay"

    The rise of western genre in Bollywood  "Sholay"(1975)  is one of the earliest films which had the Western genre . Apparently it was inspired from Hollywood movies like "The Magnificent Seven" (1960)  & Japanese movie "Seven Samurai"(1954).  Initially, it received negative critical reviews and a tepid commercial response, but favorable word-of-mouth publicity helped it to become a box office success. It broke records for continuous showings in many theatres across India, and ran for more than   five years   at Mumbai's Minerva theatre .  ‘Sholay’ was also about two gunslingers fending off the village against bandits and Sergio Leone’s film had pretty much the same rub as well.  As I've already said  ‘Sholay’ was inspired by  many  classic Western film.
