There were some tough guys who played villain’s henchman and minor roles in old movies. They were known for their intimidating muscular bodies and look who would indulge in fight scenes with heroes. They were twice the size of their opponent heroes but were get beaten by them as per the movie  script. Some of the names if you remember are Ram Shetty, Bob Christo, Manik Irani aka Billa, Mahesh Anand, Gavin Packard and Mukesh Rishi etc. The last actor is still acting in movies.Here are their pictures . Top actors who were replaced in movie sequels



In some movie sequels, there are actors who could not continue with their roles. With numerous reasons like scheduling conflicts, pay issue, and even untimely death of actors.

Movie closet presents you  the  list of actors since year  2000  whose movie character was replaced by another actor.
We exclude the roles performed by another actor which are reboot like the Batman, Superman & very long running movie franchise like James Bond movies.

Below are the reasons :-

Scheduling conflicts

·         Rachelle Lefevre was replaced with Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria  for  third instalment of   Twilight Franchise. The former  couldn’t do the role because of scheduling conflicts.

·       Alexa  Davalos was unavailable hence she  was replaced by actress  Rosemund Pike  for playing Andromeda in movie Greek mythology movie Wrath of the Titans .


·       Katie Holmes  did not reprise her role  of Rachel Dawes  in The Dark Knight. She had  scheduling  conflicts  with another movie called Mad Money. She was replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal.


·       Despite of loving her character “Clarice Starling “ Jodie Foster could not  return for sequel to  Hannibal franchise as she was filming another movie    . She was later replaced by Julianne Moore .
             


Untimely Death of actors

·       Richard Harris (Dumbledore ) demised after Harry Potter : The Chamber of Secrets film . Actor  Michael Gambon   later played  as Albus Dumbledore   .

·       R&B singer  Aaliyah had  a role in The Matrix Reloaded  during the filming but due to her sudden death in tragic place crash in 2001 her scenes were reshot with actress Nona Gaye to complete the movie .

·       Fast & Furious star Paul Walker died in a horrendous car crash in 2013. He completed most of his scenes in Furious 7  movie the rest of his scenes his face  was  replaced  by CGI  (pictures from his previous movies) . Walker’s  brothers Cody and Caleb & a few body doubles worked as the Stand-Ins   for the late actor .

Some other  reasons

Rachel Weisz  opted out  from third instalment of  Mummy  as she  was dissatisfied  with the movie’s  screenplay .Mario Bello was later cast in Mummy 3  as the female lead .

·       Terrence Howard was replaced by  Don Cheadle in  Iron Man 2 . Howard  alleged one of his Iron Man  co-stars that he was pushed out .


·       Edward  Norton was replaced by Mark Ruffalo  as the  Hulk in The Avengers . Norton was reluctant to reprise his role .

·       Megan fox’s character was replaced by model  Rosie Huntington  Whiteley  who played a new love interest of the protagonist in Transformer 3  movie  because the former compared  director Michael Bay to Adolf Hitler which infuriated him .

·        In another third instalment  movie scenario  , Bruce Willis was replaced by  actor Harrison Ford  (though the role was different )because he demanded  a whopping $ 4 million for four days  instead of $ 3 million  .The producers didn’t agree hence he dropped out .

·       Keanu Reeves  dropped out of Speed sequel Speed 2 : Cruise Control . He was not happy with the story as he said “a cruise ship is even slower than a bus”  hence he chose not to do it.

A Few Unknown facts about "Sholay"

The rise of western genre in Bollywood  "Sholay"(1975)  is one of the earliest films which had the Western genre . Apparently it was inspired from Hollywood movies like "The Magnificent Seven" (1960)  & Japanese movie "Seven Samurai"(1954).  Initially, it received negative critical reviews and a tepid commercial response, but favorable word-of-mouth publicity helped it to become a box office success.
